Tocqueville Society
"I must say that I have seen Americans make great and real sacrifices to the public welfare; and have noticed a hundred instances in which they hardly ever failed to lend faithful support to one another."
- Alexis de Tocqueville
The Tocqueville Society is a national leadership program created by United Way Worldwide in 1984 to recognize individuals who contribute a personal gift of $10,000 or more each year. Alexis de Tocqueville appreciated, applauded and forever immortalized the compassionate, passionate spirit that lives in America's heart, and the Society continues to give recognition to those individuals who exemplify these qualities in their communities.
Pikes Peak United Way's local chapter of the Society was established in 1992 with the leadership of Dusty and Gary Loo. The membership continues to grow, demonstrating the continuing commitment our community's leaders have toward making this a better place to live for all of our citizens.
